The story behind Trebu Technology

Since its foundation in 1989, Trebu Technology has grown from a Dutch engineering company into an international specialist in hydraulic braking and cooling systems. What started as a family business in Rotterdam has developed into a trusted partner for customers in industries including wind energy, solar energy, maritime, mining and heavy industry.

Throughout every stage of this journey, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to reliability, expertise and innovation.

A family business built on engineering

Trebu Technology was founded in 1989 by engineer Wim Ubert, with a clear vision of developing high-quality hydraulic solutions for demanding industrial applications.

In 2013, the next generation joined the company when Michel Ubert became part of the team. Together, they have continued to build on the company’s strong engineering foundation while expanding its international presence.

Supporting the growth of renewable energy

From the early 1990s, Trebu began focusing on hydraulic systems for the rapidly growing wind energy market.

A number of important milestones followed:

• Development of the first hydraulic power unit for a wind turbine in 1992.
• The first series production order for Nedwind in 1993.
• Development of hydraulic and electric pitch systems for Acciona in Spain.
• Introduction of the first yaw and rotor brake series for wind turbines.
• Development of high-pressure yaw braking systems and advanced hydraulic solutions for modern wind turbines.

These innovations helped position Trebu as a trusted engineering partner within the international renewable energy industry.

Expanding across the globe

As demand for Trebu’s expertise continued to grow, so did the company.

Over the years, Trebu expanded internationally with the establishment of offices in:

• Spain (1999)
• China (2014)
• India (2021)

Today, Trebu supports customers worldwide while engineering, developing and testing its hydraulic systems from its headquarters in Rotterdam.

Besides hydraulic braking systems, the company has expanded its portfolio with products such as hydraulic power units, mobile filter systems and hydraulic flush units. Every solution is developed to meet the specific needs of customers operating in demanding environments.
